When people like Alvin Tofller and his many clones are considered “thinkers”, we have to conclude that words, as old Marcuse once declared, have lost all relationship with their traditional meaning. The ideas of “clear war”, “smart weapons” and similar concoctions, that insinuate a future where war will not be different from a video game, with no deaths or suffering, are completely devoid of meaning and insulting to even an average intelligence. It is difficult to understand how supposedly well meaning people who fight for peace can take them seriously.


Cuando gente como Alvin Toffler y sus muchos clones son considerados “pensadores”, debemos concluir que las palabras, como declaró una vez el viejo Marcuse, han perdido toda relación con sus significados tradicionales. Las ideas de “guerra limpia”, “armas inteligentes” y otras, que insinúan que en el futuro la guerra no será diferente a un juego de video, sin muertes ni sufrimiento, carecen completamente de sentido y son un insulto aun para las inteligencias más mediocres. Es difícil comprender como gente que, supuestamente, lucha por la paz, puede tomar estas ideas en serio.
